Valentine walk. Part 2

Despite the grey skies, it was a lovely day. It was so nice to catch up with folks and to see ex-Wiccs dogs. Jessie (aka Wispa), gorgeous Ruby and the lovely Dougie (aka Dougie   ) I got a huge cuddle from Dougie when he arrived    Well done Sue   You should be a
It was great that there was such a good turnout for the dogs, who really enjoyed socializing with new people & dogs.
Angela & Sue were a great help keeping an eye on things on the fields, and Eleanor barely had time to breathe between taking dogs in & out of the barn & tidying the crates of the ones that were out. Under her watchful eye, the day went quite smoothly
I walked the dogs that weren't suitable for some of the less experienced walkers or who may have been a little bit overwhelmed by so much going on.
It was great to wave off Colin, Max & Pete (though Pete's paws had barely touched the ground before he was off   ) Good luck to them all & we wish them a long & happy life.

Wiccaweys Valentines Walk

It may have been a wintery wonderland at Wiccs today but by the end there were many melted hearts !
We were joined by both old and new faces for the walking and the woofs had a great time, with all of them having at least two walks and sometimes more.
All I can say is that there were some very tired woofs at the end who I'm sure will be pushing the zzz's up tonight.
Even though there were lots of woofs and humans together there were hardly any grumbles and infact the woofs were so busy practising their waggiest tales and snoggiest kisses to get into mischief. They certainly enjoyed meeting all the new faces and playing in the snow. It is so funny to watch them rolling around with their legs in the air with a picture of sheer bliss on their faces. It is at times like this that you realise that the "white" areas on many of the woofs are not white at all, but a grubby cream colour !!
It was good to see lots of visitors today as rehomings have been slow and it is sometimes disheartening to see so many beautiful woofs waiting patiently for their new families. But today it was fantastic to wave Colin, Pete and Max[beardie] off with their new families. Hope you all have lots of fun and happy days ahead. Two other sets of visitors have met "potential" woofs and have gone away to think, so fingers crossed.
A very big Thank You to everyone who came today to help walk the woofs and to everyone who came to join in the Valentines walk. It was lovely to meet you all, hope that you enjoyed yourselves and your help was very much appreciated.
The Wiccs Woofs want to say a big thank you and send you all their "bestest" wishes and hope that you will come again.

Well it was day for keeping on the move in the freezing temperatures..............that was easy, as the woofs kept us busy with walks and cuddles.
Whatever the weather the Wiccs gang are ready and waiting.
A massive thank you to Kenn + Karen, assisted by Laurel + Smiffy ,Mick + Lin, Raymond + Gillian and Julia for your company and help in walking all the woofs. Having lots of walkers meant that all the woofs had a good time out to walk, socialise and be pampered.
I started and finished my day with smiley Sam who loves to stretch his legs and play. LennyB was such a happy hound today. I walked him alongside Fifi. Now Fifi loves to throw herself down and have a good roll, and today she was joined by LennyB and often they were rolling in unison and then Lenny went all silly when I scratched his back. Even though Fifi and LennyB have been at Wiics for a while and sometimes we see them as "part of the furniture" , they still do little things that make us smile and remind us that they are unique.........and LennyB is certainly unique
At one point we thought about having a fashion parade with some of the woofs looking very smart in their winter coats, namely Prince who started the trend !, Willy in his red jumper, Rosie wearing purple and Merlin who somehow stripped off his lovely green coat .
There were three sets of visitors today, one set met a couple of boys and have gone away to think, so fingers and paws crossed, another set made a long journey and are staying closeby overnight and should be leaving with an extra passenger tomorrow and then the other visitors fell in love with Bonny and she looked very happy as she left with her new family.
Well done Bonny, have lots of fun and well done to Ronnie who was adpoted in the week and now resides at the seaside
The day was tinged with sadness as we said goodbye to the beautiful Sabrina now free from her pain.

An excellent day !

Well what a lovely day at Wiccs.Lots of lovely :walkies and plenty of :wooflove:
A massive thank you to everyone who came over to help. Julia and I arrived to make an early start and then we were soon joined by Dave, Karen and Wiccs boy Polo, always a delight to see him. Then a lovely surprise as the familiar faces of Mick and Lin came round the corner, fresh from their trip to Australia, so lots of catching up to do. Welcome back guys.
Today we welcomed three new walkers who had responded to my desperate plea for help. Thank you Jo, Angela and Simon, hope to see you all again.
Lots of beautiful woofs to walk. The Romanian gang certainly enjoyed their walks in the field and seem to have all the walkers wrapped around their paws already
Colin was on his best behaviour as he tried to impress Jo with his ball skills. the new girls Jess and Sophie loved walking with Polo, they just couldn't get enough of him.....in fact Polo seemed to enjoy all his walks with the girls.
Roxy and Russell did brilliantly walking without each other, they continue to make such progress.
Too many woofs to mention individually, but sufice to say some gorgeous boys and girls waiting for their forever homes.
One of the highlights of today for me the adoption of a very special girl. I first met Meggie in November when we visited the rescue centre in Brasov, Romania and although I met lots of lovely dogs Meggie stole my heart. In fact she didn't have a name and we called her " Meggie". She spent her days chained to her kennel and she simply stood quietly watching the world go by, she looked sad and acted like an old dog. It was as if she had resigned herself to the fact that this was going to be her life and had accepted it.
Meggie wasn't one of the dogs who we had been asked to meet and assess so when we left I said goodbye to her.
So imagine my surprise and joy when I discovered that she was coming over to Wiccs and I was so excited when I met her on her arrival last week. When I took her from the van and walked her in the field I saw a completely different girl..........she was happy and just wanted to run and play, she certainly brought tears to my eyes.She is just such a gentle girl.
Anyway yesterday I did a homecheck and discovered they were interested in Meggie, well they came up to Wiccs today and it really was love at first sight for all concerned :wooflove:Meggie soon had the children and in fact the whole family wrapped around her paws............so off she went. And she will now be living a few miles from me so I'll probably get to see her again.
Well done Meggie, have a lovely time with your new family
Talking of the Romanian gang.........the first dog I met on our visit to Romania hitched a lift home with me tonight. He is a big bear of a boy and poor Bobbies face was picture !!

Walkers Wanted !!

Anyone got a few hours to spare ? Lots of lovely woofs ready and waiting for walkies and cuddles
If you have looked on the dogs looking for homes you will see that there are 7 new arrivals from Romania who are just gorgeous as well as the lovely "old hands" still waiting patiently for their new homes..............................so
How about making their day by coming to walk and cuddle, both newbies and longer stay residents?
We will be walking both Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th January as we do every weekend.
If you have never been before and feel this is something you would like to be involved in..........I must warn you it comes with a health warning as is very addictive and you will find that you cannot live without a "collie fix", please either ring or email wiccaweys@aol.com just to let us know

Bright and Breezy

Well after all the visitors and adoptions yesterday we had a very quiet day..................just walkers and woofs
A very big thank you to Kate, DJ, Gillian, Raymond and Julia for joining me today, your help and company was very much appreciated.
It was perfect weather for walking, bright and breezy with a bit of a nip in the air. As ever the woofs were pleased to see us and smother us in kisses and take us for walkies
Again Roxy and Russell walked without with each other, Flora continued her flirting, Prince looked absolutely charming in his new coat and Toby just couldn't get enough cuddles. Joss and Robbie are two gorgeous playful boys and they had a great time wrapping their long leads around myself and DJ, so it made for an interesting walk. The stunning "redhead" Colin worked his charms on DJ and managed two walks with her. He is so keen to learn and already knows many basic commands and just wants to know about everything going on around him.
New boy Buttons had Gillian wrapped around his paws and we had to search her pockets and car before she left ........just incase of any stowaways ! but then we discovered that Raymond had locked the doors to stop this happening, spoilsport `
Kate kept us amused by recounting her experiences of living with Roxie, a gorgeous girl whom she adopted a while ago. She was such a shy sweet girl and I cannot believe that she has eaten so much furniture , yes dog food would be cheaper !
We will all be thinking of you this week as Byron, your lovely Wiccs boy faces more tests.
And what did Julia do ?...........she just kept us all in order

S....S.....S SATURDAY 14TH JANUARY

It seemed if your name began with an S you were destined to find yourself adopted !!!! Four sets of visitors resulted in Sam(who never even got to the website), Sheeba and Sophie finding their forever homes.

Colin who was returned after a day for cat chasing took absolutely no interest in the yard cats. Polly impressed me on our walk, she is a very grown up kinda pup; someone will be very lucky to adopt these two dogs.

Julia started and finished the day by walking "smiley" Sam, whilst I started and finished with the young Colin, a teenager, who just loves to play ball. Colin looks absolutely stunning when he runs, a great little mover.
Then it was off to walk the regulars, Prince, LennieB, Fifi, Merlin and Merlin.
We were joined by Kenn, Karen + Laurel who soon disappeared off around the fields with Jack, Sheeba, Sophie and Robbie.
Then we could hear such a noise !! was it a bird ? was it an alien ? .......No, it was flirty Flora positively singing away as she enjoyed her walk with gorgeous George, swishing her back end as she went !!
After lunch Julia and I devised a plan involving Roxy and Russell, or the "whities" as they are affectionately known. These two have been at Wiccs for over a year where they have made tremendous progress, and since they were brave enough to start walking they have always been together. Well we thought that they were ready to take another step forward and walk seperately. Julia headed with Russell and Roxy and loitered in the field until I joined them with Fifi and George. Then we did a quick change of leads and Julia headed off with Russell and Fifi and I went off in the opposite direction with Roxy and George !! I'm pleased to say that all woofs enjoyed their walk and it caused Julia and I to have a leaky eye moment as we watched these two take another giant step forward.
One sad moment as the lovely creepy Toby who was only adopted yesterday came back, such a shame that he wasn't really given a chance or time to settle.
Some visitors met several woofs and have gone home to sleep on it, fingers and paws crossed.
The other highlight of the day was when Kenn, Karen and Laurel left for home !!! no we were not glad to see them go, on the contrary, we were very pleased as they left with big smiles all round and an extra passenger, a new Wiccs brother for Laurel !! Well done, have lots of fun and games together.
Thanks everyone for a lovely day, especially Julia for putting up with me all day. !

NEW YEARs DAY WISHES and WALKIES

Well walking at Wiccs today certainly blew the cobwebs away and hopefully used up lots of calories.
Lin and Bella confused us intially by turning up in her other car ! but we were very pleased to see them as were the woofs, especially George, Rex, Rosie to name but a few who were only too pleased to cover Lin in kisses and take for walkies
It was lovely to welcome back Pepper who brought along his new mum Daisy and her daughter Laura and who were a big help with walking some of the more exuberant woofs, namely Campell, Ross and Robbie. Pepper already looked very much at home with his new mum.
And of course Julia came and joined me for the day and together we held a barn party or two whilst we sorted the beds out and then walked until it was dark :o yes, there are a lot of woofs waiting patiently for their new homes.
A very big thank you to you all. You helped the New Year get off to a great start.
There were 3 sets of visitors today, one couple have gone home to think about things, so fingers and paws crossed. Then we waved the handsome "redhead" Colin off as he shared the back seat with his new "redhead" sister. What a lovely pair they made.
Then the gorgeous Campell wormed his way into a large family of 6 woofs and a human brother and sister, so shortage of playmates for him.
Have lots of happy days Colin and Campbell in your new homes.
I know that all of us who know Dempsey have shed a few tears over him, he was always a favourite to walk and to now watch him struggle with this sudden onset of blindness is really heartbreaking. He really does need all of our healing thoughts at the moment to help him cope and also as he faces investigations and wherever this may lead.

A very big THANK YOU to Kenn, Barbara, Jane, Jenny, Raymond, Gillian, Becks and Craig who found time in their busy day to come over and join me in walking the Wiccs woofs.
As ever the woofs were in fine form and all enjoyed a lovely walk or two and lots of fuss and Christmas kisses. The woofs rewarded us with plenty of slobbery kisses, wet noses, wriggling bottoms and wagging tails. There will be lots of woofs spending Christmas at Wiccs as so many have been handed in for rehoming and potential adopters are a bit thin on the ground.
It really is a case of "no room at the inn!" and there really are some beautiful dogs waiting for their new homes.
THE WICCS WOOFS WOULD LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE A HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND THEY HOPE TO SEE YOU VISITING NEXT YEAR.

Windy Wanderings

It was perfect walking weather today, sunshine and gentle breeze, I had to keep reminding myself that its nearly winter !
Today I was joined by Julia and Pat wth her gprgeous collie girl Meg . Both stayed for the duration of the whole day which was fab as we managed to walk all the lovely woofs and have time to fuss and enjoy their company
Sorry for being such a slave driver . Your help and company was greatly appreciated, a big thank you
But earlier this morning we had a sight for sore eyes when we were joined by Ken and Laurel who looks more handsome everytime he visits and Roz with Sophie who came to see her " boyfriend" Smithy but also enjoyed a walk with Rosie. I think Ken had the short straw as every woof he walked decided that they were on a go slow ! It really was lovely to see you both and again a very big thank you
There were a few newbies to meet, Lady and Polly infact all the boys seemed to love Polly.
As ever fun and games taking Russell and Roxy for walks as they were determined to tie everybody up in knots and of course Flora was swishing her knickers at everything that moved, but she is such a happy girl now and a pleasure to walk.

A very SPECIAL visitor

What a lovely day we had mooching about with the wonderful Wiccs woofs.
But we had a dilemma ? who would Flora flirt with now that her boyfriend Spot has been adopted ? ! Well we tried young George but somehow he had only got eyes for the boys ! ....we must try harder, but Flora just enjoyed her walk and continues to feel more confident around people..
Prince was his usual "charming" self ,Lenny B appeared turbo charged and Bruno as bouncy as ever. There are more boys than girls at the moment and so Sam, Paddy, Rex, Merlin, Dempsey, merle Rex, merle George, Bryn and Russell led the way for the boys with madam Fifi, Rosie, Sheeba and Roxy representing the girls. But they all enjoyed their walks and fuss and were little rays of sunshine on this gloomy day.
A very big thank you to Julia and Barbara with Benji. Benji was on his "bestest" behaviour and he did really well today which is all down to the love and hard work by Barbara. They are made for each other and he clearly only has eyes for his mum, keep up the good work Barbara, it is paying off.
No visitors to adopt today BUT we had a VERY SPECIAL visitor...........CHIPOLATA Chip as he was known at Wiccs came back today with his new brother Teddi and hoomans. He is now called Jaspi and is doing brilliantly despite eating 2 sofas !! Chip/Jaspi looks very dapper and still has those amazing ears and gorgeous deep eyes. But he was so relaxed and chilled out which was great to see and had us all reaching for our tissues...........especially his "Auntie Julia" who had a special relationship with him. It was fantastic to see him and hear how he has been getting on. Well done Chip, you thoroughly deserve to be so happy.

We had a very busy but enjoyable day at Wiccs today and the Wiccs woofs were in great form and keen to polish up on their walking skills and snogging skills.
By the end of the day nearly all the woofs had enjoyed two walks and all had enjoyed a long walk with plenty of time for fuss and socialising. This was because we were fortunate to have so many folk coming and going during the day as well as visitors who also walked some of the woofs.
A very big thank you to Mick, Raymond + Gillian, Sue [Dougies mum], Lin + Bella and Julia, your help and company was very much appreciated.
Wiccs is always willing to help with dogs who are sometimes reactive around other dogs and today we were joined by Roz and her wriggly collie girl Sophie and then collie boy Jack brought his family along. It was lovely to meet them and also to walk alongside these dogs with some of the Wiccs woofs to help them to get used to being with other dogs. Of course for us it meant more folk to help with the walking and hopefully for Sophie and Jack give them confidence.

Winter is a coming

A huge thank you to those who answered the call of the collies. Thank you to Mary and Stuart who walked and walked; thank you to Jane (with Sophie); to Jenny (with Jasper and Podge) and to Eleanor, who brought along a much recovered Bill. Bill is such a happy and uncomplaining dog. I do hope he finds his own home soon.

The newbies are gorgeous (arn't they always?). Sonny is stunningly handsome and totally laid back, Rex has those magic ears - such a nice boy, who tried to work his charm on Stuart, and Paddy was a dream to walk. Of course, all the long term residents were happy to be out and about. Flirty Flora gains more confidence every week, especially if the boys are around.

The good news is that gorgeous boy Freddie picked his new family to-day and was waved off sitting happily in the back of the car. Spaniel Roxy also went off to her new home with a doggy brother to play with. Good luck in your new homes both of you.

As we left, Gentleman George was busy interviewing a prospective foster mum, so watch out for his news.

Spooky Sunday Saunters

A good day for woofs and humans alike today. All the Wiccs girls and boys enjoyed their walks with everyone coming out twice and some going off in various cars heading for the walk at Wickstead Park
But none of this would have been possible without the help of so many people. A really massive, massive thank you to everyone .
Lin + Bella, Barbara + Benji walked all day and I'm sorry for being such a slave driver but look how happy you made Dempsey and Rex.
Jenny arrived with Podge + Jasper in tow and Gillian with Raymond + Elsa in tow so we were able to do lots of walking and talking and eating........very important and delicious homemade cakes from Gillian
Today we were joined by Mary and Stuart who are new to all this and we hope enjoyed their initiation into the world of "collies" and Wiccs. Seriously it was lovely to meet you both and hope that you will join us again.
Then this afternoon there was much activity as some of the woofs donned their Halloween costumes and set off on their broomsticks ..ok, I mean cars with Becks, Craig, Bernice, Paul and Sarah to take part in the sponsored Halloween Walk at Wickstead Park organised by Vets4Pets. Bella went dressed as a bat, Roxy spaniel as a devil, Cam as a little devil and Duhb and Smithy as Wizzards as well as Jack and Merlin. They were all pretty tired when they got back.........if only they could talk ! Thanks Becks, Craig and Bernice for taking part and taking some of the Wiccs woofs.
Then just as I was leaving Lin came back to tell us the cows had broken out and were blocking the road, so we helped to assist them back into the field, never a dull moment at Wiccs.
So yes a good day but only made possible by all these wonderful helpers, thank you

Saturday Sunshine

After being away for a few weeks it was great to be able to get my "collie" fix and catch up with all the longer stay and new arrivals to Wiccs. They really are a lovely bunch of woofs who soon welcomed me back in their own way by smothering me with their slobbery kissess. Flora never ceases to amaze me, she has gained so much confidence due to the patience and softly softly approach by all at Wiccs. No longer does she cower in the back of her crate but is now very keen to come out for a walk, especially with one of her many boyfriends ! I could see a big change in Roxy and Russell, they too would cower in their crate but now they can't get out quick enough for their walks and today they really enjoyed having their backs sctrached and ears rubbed. Hankies again at the ready !!
A big thank you to Jenny, Mick, Kenn, Becks and Laurel for joining me for the morning and to Lin and Bells for staying the whole day. Your help and company very much appreciated by myself and all the Wiccs woofs.
Only one visitor but we soon waved off Buddy pup with his new family, sadly no visitors planned for tomorrow, like so many places rehomings are slow, but these gorgeous woofs are patient and are waiting their turn.
One drama today when Billy collapsed on his walk and needed to be carried back. He was rushed to the vets where he was found to have a high temp and rapid heart rate. He has come home with me where he has eaten some supper, had a drink and simply laid on the lounge carpet. Fingers and paws crossed for Bill. He is going back to the vet in the morning..................watch this space.

The Artful Codger

We were blessed with another glorious Autumn day. A very big thank you to Julia, Jane (with Penny) and Barbara (with Benjy) for joining us and helping to walk the Wonderful Wiccs Woofies. (WWW). The newbies have settled in well, gentleman William (Billy to his friends), elderly Mr George, and lively pup Buddy. It was a pleasure to walk all the WWW's in such good company.

But there is definately a sausage thief about. We left the boot of the car open when we had our lunch and later in the day when I went to get the third bag of sausages it was missing. I gather a certain dog was seen with a small empty bag on his nose. Yep, Mr Rags strikes again. Wilfred has found a home with a young lady to look after him. Best of luck old fellow.

Thank you all for your company and a special thank you from the WWW's whose appreciation knows no bounds.

What a difference it makes ...

What a difference it makes to have plenty of walkers. Thanks to Dave and Karen (with Polo), Ken and Karen (with Laurel) and Lin and Mick, not forgetting every dogs best friend, Auntie Julia, all the dogs had nice long walks. With glorious sunshine smiling down on us we were able to take our time with all the dogs and enjoy socialising with the dogs and ourselves. Well done everyone and thank you.

Bernie arrived after lunch with three newbies (all gorgeous - look out for their pics on the rehoming pages). She walked little Rosy Posy Spaniel and was delighted to see how much she has come on since she brought her down here. Then she was such a scared little thing but after receiving lots of Wiccs TLC she is bouncy, happy little girl. That old Wiccs Magic works wonders.

Miss Flirty Flora Swishy Knickers tried her best to get Spot's attention again this week - she really loves that boy, but he resists her charms in the most polite way. But I was so pleased when she took some sausage from my hand for the very first time. She is coming along in leaps and bounds and will make someone very happy when she is finally rehomed. Gentleman Wilfred proved to be not such a gent where chocolate cake is concerned and at one time was seen trying to run off with the cake tin!

Daisy was adopted and will escort her mum's electric wheelchair and when we left the paperwork was in hand for Freda to go home. Well done both of you.

A glorious day. Can't wait until tomorrow. Thank you again everyone.

Flirty Flora trys her best

A very big thank you to Julia, Mick and Lin who enjoyed walking the dogs in very sunny weather. I walked Flora and Spot together and it was so funny to see her being flirty with him when he was only interested in walking and sniffing. She looked at me as if to say "what else can I do to get his attention". She has the most wonderful swishy nickers you ever saw. It is lovely to see her growing in confidence every week.

There were two adoptions to-day. Puppy Blackie went off to her new home, her sister Rose was rehomed yesterday. Good Luck Girls.

Newbie Shadow was also rehomed, so good luck little Shadow.

It is so rewarding when you see the dogs go off to their new homes. I only wish there could be more rehomings. Some of the dogs wait a long time for the right family to come along.

A very pleasant day with good company. Thank you again everyone.

The sun was shining on us today and it was lovely walking and enjoying the autumn weather. Of course the woofs were very pleased to see us. Julia and I started early to sort the beds out but we were soon joined by Becks and Bernice who stayed all day and walked miles leaving some very happy boys and girls in their wake. Mind you we had to check their pockets and cars before they left in case they had smuggled out the gorgeous collie babes June and Bridie, what poppets they are. Initially they decided that they couldn't walk as everything was scarey but after some cuddles and time to get used to us they discovered that they did have legs and amazingly they worked, Thanks Becks and Bernice for your patience with them.
Then we were joined by Mick and Lin and foster dog Sam who looks brilliant. Lin was supposed to be taking it easy but still managed some short walks and lots of cuddles.
Sharon and Olwyn popped over to give Lenny the bassett a manicure, not that he was too impressed as all he wanted to do was strut his stuff with his many girlfriends. Lenny you are such a scream.
Plenty of new faces for me to meet, Sally, Max, Piper and Pippin as well as the old faithfuls Prince, Merlin, Roxy, Russell and Rosie.
Flora never ceases to amaze me, she was positively skipping along this afternoon with her Prince Charming and then she sat next to me and let me stroke her all over without flinching, brave girl.
Two sets of visitors today. One set met several dogs and hopefully will be returning tomorrow to take home the " boy" who has adopted them ! But it was the wonderful "dancing Darceys" turn today !! What a gorgeous girl, so happy and would always greet you with a little dance of excitement, almost like she was doing an Irish jig. Well done Darcey, have fun in your new home and don't throw away your dancing shoes !

Two down, two to go (puppies that is)

A very big thank you to Julia, who started early in the barn before walking many dogs and to Becks and Bernice who walked their socks off in the afternoon. The weather was very kind to us indeed which makes it such a pleasure to walk. Becks gave Bryn a lovely groom after walking him on the long line and he looked so smart, I also think Becks is a little in love with Miss Darcy who is full of fun and mischief. Thank you very much all of you, your help was invaluable.

The good news is that two puppies went home to-day. Lucy went to share her home with a little human brother and sister. Tommy has gone to a home with two older boys. Have a great life both of you. You are such darlings. I think foster Mum and Dad, Eleanor and Neil will miss you, but they are very happy for you.

Flora was walked by her favorite Auntie Julia along with Cam and I had Meg. I was very honoured Flora let me stroke her head and tickle her chin. She is coming along in bounds and strides. Very heartwarming indeed.

Newbies Pip and Piper were a pleasure to walk. Piper was too nervous to walk yesterday, but to-day she was eager to get going. Glen smothered Becks and Bernice with lots of kisses. He is a real sweetheart (well, arn't they all).

Di and Stefan stopped by on the way home to Cornwall and Ruby and Bobby strutted their stuff. It was a pleasure to see you again hope you had a good drive home.

A very good day for dogs and walkers alike. Thank you again everyone.

An Absence of sausages

A very big thank you to all of to-days walkers - to Julia (with Indy and Mack); Barbara (with Benjy); Sharon (with Mickey) and Jenny (with Jasper and Best in Show Winner Podge). Podge was proudly showing off his winner's collar and lead - very smart indeed.

The weather was kind to us, all the dogs were very well behaved and spent time being walked and socialising with each other. Benjy had loads of fun running with Wiccs own dogs, Merlin and Jack. Flora was eager for her walk to begin - so heartwarming to see her coming out of her shell. She didn't do much flirting to-day except with Fifi. We had to remind her that Fifi is a girl! We don't want Prince's nose put out of joint. Glen and new boy Max are real cuddle monsters and Max tried to help Raymond drive the car by sitting on his lap, quite a feat for a big boy (Max not Raymond!).

I was in trouble with Mildred and Felix when I first arrived because, horror of horrors, I forget to bring sausages - they are still in the fridge. Well, the cats ignored me for the rest of the day. I shall have to make it up next time.

A lovely day, with lovely dogs and peeps. Thanks again folks for your help and your company.

Amid the walking, show preparations and general toing and froing the little, gorgeous, smiley and happy Wispa won over her new owners. And although when they left the yard with Wispa in the back, it did look as though she was forming a cunning plan to get nearer to her new mum and dad, probably before the end of the drive!

Young Freddy having only arrived this week also adopted his new mum and dad. Have a lovely life both of you.

A huge to everyone who came today to walk the woofs , it was . Throughout the course of the day there were nine of us which meant that the lovely woofs could all have a longer walk and some of them even managed two
It really was great to see so many happy smiley faces as well as an assortment of Wiccs dogs who had very kindly brought along their adopted families
Julia and I started early with the famous "barn party" which is always good fun and the woofs really enjoy all the fun and games. Then we were joined by Benji and Barbara who started the walking with madam Fifi and continued walking until late afternoon. Thank you, and it was great to see Benji again and today he was far more relaxed with his walking companions, well done Barbara, keep up the good work.
Then the slinky Bella arrived with Lin in tow as well as "norman" and again they walked with us until the end.
The dynamic duo Win and Jess brought along their humans Pam and Brian as well as some delicious homemade cake. They did their best to try and persuade their mum and dad that they really would like a new doggy sister and Mollie obliged by jumping into their car when Brian opened the door........but she was asked to leave, maybe another time.....
Then a lovely surprise, you just never know who is going to turn up and as we've said before everyone is welcome, even if its just for a short time. Beccs arrived with her dog Rosie and friend Bernice and they walked some of the more energetic dogs, Chip, hoggie and the beautiful Darcy whom Beccs is now in with
And just when we thought it couldn't get any better Douggies new mum Sue came to join us and it gave us the chance to catch up with Douggie who is doing brilliantly, well done Sue, and I can't wait for a big "clean" cuddle from him at the show next week.
So WOW, it was amazing, so many folk which meant new faces for the lovely woofs to meet and greet in their own special way, lots of time with each woofs, lovely walks, chats and time to spend in collie heaven.

Bank Holiday day one

A very big thank you to all the walkers who devoted their time to the wooffies to-day - to Mick and Lin; Karen and Dave (with Polo); Sue; Angela and Matt. A special thank you to Eleanor who sorted out the crates and to Jenni who popped in for a short visit and stayed most of the day to walk the bigger dogs for me.
All the newbies are quite delightful and so well mannered and it was great to catch up with some of the long timers. Brucie/Hugo took quite a shine to Matt and Angela. Mick and Lin have one foster dog, brought him to walk and went home with two fosters!.

Sadly, there were no visitors to-day. Lets hope some of the homechecks come to fruition soon.

Full House !!

A very busy day at Wiccs today. Julia and I started early so that we could tidy their beds and have a barn party before new collie addicts Mike and Lyn joined us and again walked their socks off. Thanks very much, it made such a huge difference.
Sadly no visitors today, so no adoptions BUT plenty of new dogs coming in. 4 arrived yesterday from Ireland, and we welcomed Dempsey, Dexter, Mollie and Bruno. All lovely friendly woofs, down on their luck. They were an absolute pleasure to walk and were quite keen to relive us of treats and give out some lovely collie cuddles.
Bernie arrived today with 3 new dogs, 2 girls and a pup whose names escape me,. So it is a bit of a full house at Wiccs with every available space taken. At the moment there are more dogs coming in than going out, it is a slow time for adoptions, which may be due to holiday time and financial constraints. This means that Paul and Sarah and everyone who helps at Wiccs are stretched to the limit, and of course with more dogs to look after both the food and vet bills are increased.
So please if you have ever thought about helping at Wiccs then perhaps this is the time to volunteer. Sometimes the hardest thing might be "making that phonecall" as your life may be changed for ever !! If you have a few hours to spare at the weekend then do come and meet and walk some of these lovely dogs. You really will make a difference. Some of the dogs like Russell, Roxy. Flora and George need that extra one to one time spending with them to help them to continue the progress that they have already made. If you have thought about fostering, then pick up the phone and speak to S+P or any of us that foster. It is a big comittment, but so rewarding. There will be many laughs and tears along the way, but again this can make a huge difference to the woofs we care about. And of course there is always financial help. Any donations are very much appreciated with most going on food , bedding and vet bills.
Yes thinga are hard at the moment but the Wiccs woofs just take it all in their stride. As ever they were pleased to see us and enjoyed their walks and treats. Even if we feel a bit down at times just time spend in their company cheers us up, especially when they give out some of their very special love and kisses of which there is always plenty.
So plenty of the longer stay woofs still waiting patiently to adopt a new family, and the newbies just settling in, each with their own story to tell...................if only someone will listen ? !

Rally to the collies

A million thank-yous to those who rallied to the cry of the collies. Linda together with the beautiful Bella travelled all the way from Norfolk to spend the day dog walking, and we were joined at lunchtime by Sue (for the 2nd day running) and Eleanor. You are all superwomen. And I am not forgetting Julia in my thanks because her help is invaluable and she kindly started early with the crates so we could concentrate on the walking. You are a superwoman.

With all this help the pooches were able to have nice long walks and be socialised. They dished out the kisses and cuddles and shared our food (who can resist those appealing eyes or wet nose resting on your lap?). New boy Dave stole all our hearts, he was so well behaved. Bella and Bryn were smooching on their walk together. Lenny fairly skipped along and then did roly polies. I could go on naming them all with their special ways but there is not enough room. They are all wonderful and have only one thing to say adopt me. Sadly there were no visitors to-day.

Eleanor went home with two little fluffy things in the back of her car - so look out for her posting on the fosterer's blog and be prepared to go all gaga.

LITTLE GREMLINS BIG DAY...................

For ages and ages, weeks upon weeks, months even, Little Gremlin sat and waited for his new mum and dad. His suitcase all packed and ready waiting in the hallway for the right people to come along. Several times he has been let down, no he isn't very collie-ish and his ears are humungous but as I have said on several occasions there is someone for everyone, you just had to believe it. Gremlin did believe it, and today was the BIG day. He put on his best performance and did a stunning turn, and before dinner was over it was game set and match and Little Gremlin walked tall.......well on the lap of his new mum in a big car......out of Wiccs to his brand new life.

Young Daisy had a fleeting visit to Wiccs before the sun shone down on Daisy and she to was whisked of to a new life with her little human bruvvers.

Well its been a lovely two days at Wiccs in the company of such gorgeous woofs. There were a few new faces who were very keen to say hello and enjoy some walking and cuddles. Somehow I don't think any of these will be around for long.
Of course the longer stay woofs who are waiting patiently to choose their new families were just as pleased to see us. They really are a lovely group. It is just amazing what a bit of time and patience does as Flora was positively flirting with Spot !! she was eager to come for a walk and her tail never stopped wagging, it really does bring tears to your eyes. The other "scaredy" dogs are also making great progress, Russell and Roxy just can't wait to get their leads on and go for a walk and little George is discovering that walking is fun.
Chip remains a cheeky "bum" nipper, Prince still gives the best kisses, Lenny the best bark and Smiffy the biggest smile and waggiest tail goes to Evie.
Thanks to Julia, Raymond/Gillian, Bernie and new walkers Lin and Mike, your company and help was greatly appreciated, by myself and woofs alike.
Two adoptions, both my foster boys , Edmund and Toby both went off with their new families. It was great to see them both go off even if I did have leaky eyes when Toby went. Have fun boys.

A very big thank you as always to Julia and Barbara (with Benji), and to Julie, Becks and Craig. With lots of walkers the dogs were able to stay out for longer and get more cuddles and socialising. It really does make a difference. Some of the dogs had two walks.

Newcomer Mitch is real gent and charmed us all. Lovely new girls Jennie and Sarah found their forever homes to-day. Good luck ladies.
At the end of the day Barbara spent time grooming Miss Fifi, who really seemed to enjoy it. The funniest moment was when Fifi climbed on the table behind Julia and put her paws on Julia's head. Was she trying to groom Julia? Or maybe she wants to be the latest fashion in hats at next years Ascot.
A lovely day spent with lovely dogs and people. Thank you all.

Saturday 23rd July - TAKE OFF, FIRST WALK AND A FINE ROMANCE

Little pup Apollo had visitors at dinner time and soon had them eating out of his paws and took off to his new home.

Gorgeous George braved the sunshine and escorted Bella around the fields and although slightly hesistant to start off with, the only stopping was to smell the smells and to say hello to other dogs out and about.

However out on that particular walk Julia was walking Bruno and new boy Mitch, and I have to say Bella and Mitch could show those youngsters a thing or two in the art of Romance and Courtship.

Both Julia and I fell for the charms of Mitch and should both our circumstances been different it would have been decided by a bun fight

Wiccs Magic Works Again !

The sun was shining, the Wiccs boys and girls were turning on their charm and the human company was good, what more could anyone ask for ? Thanks indeed to Julia, Lin with beautiful Bella and Sue [ new mum of Dougie] who came along, your help and company was very much appreciated. A special thank you to Lin who made a 120 mile round trip to spend the day in the company of these great doggies...........that's done it now, as both Lin and Sue are in danger of becoming "collie addicts".
I haven't been walking for a couple of weeks so I met plenty of new faces and could also see the progress that many of the others are making. Teeka, Tara, Evie and Meg are just little darlings. Sir Godfrey had a real spring in his step, Chip was as mischievious as ever, Bruno looked stunning in the sunlight and oldie Bella just doesn't know the meaning of the word slow. My slowest walk of the day was with Lenny B annd newbie CoCo. Lenny just wanted to sniff every blade of grass which suited CoCo as all she wanted was cuddles, ...and talking of cuddles I just managed to cuddle the wriggly Billy and lovely Amy before they went off with their new families.
But star of the day was undoubtedly Flora. Flora plucked up enough courage to come out of the barn where she did an absolutely enormous poo !! So what ? you may be saying.......well just read her story on the main site. We all realised what this meant and stood there watching with leaky eyes which then leaked even more as we watched her take a giant step forward by walking up to the main gate. Very well done Flora, and well done to everyone who has made this possible.........Wiccs magic, patience and understanding.

Mud larks

With the rain coming down in bucketfuls this morning it was decided to have some of the dogs out together in the back yard area, so the walkers could shelter a little. So Tara and Teeka pups, Sir Godfrey (BC, Knight of the Realm and Knight of the Round Table), Spot, Lady Bella, shy little Meg, Prince Charming, Lennie Bassett, and Fifi Belle were all "let loose" to have real good time. Teeka was fasinated by Lennie's ears and hung on to them for dear life, Meg found a quiet corner to watch the proceedings and we all got throughly wet and muddy 'cos the dogs decided they wanted extra cuddles and they couldn't possibly keep all that mud to themselves. When we came out some hour and a half later, Bernie, Julia and myself looked liked hippos who had been wallowing in the mud.

We were joined by Bernie's friend Sarah and the afternoon was spent walking the rest of the dogs in bright sunshine!

A very big thank you to Julia, and Bernie and Sarah, who both travelled quite a distance to be with us, Thank you so much guys.

Sunny Sunday Afternoon

It was a very hot day at Wiccs so it was a case of short walks, rest in the shade and plenty of water. As always lots of wet slobbery kisses from the woofs. Prince is still the best kisser, Lennie the best flirt especially with Fifi. It is really lovely to see how week by week some of the boys and girls grow in confidence, especially Roxy + Russell, Godfrey and Birch. Chip was full of mischief and managed to nip my bum 3 times !!!! A big thank you to Julia, Raymond + Gillian and Barbara + Benji for your company and help.
Two adoptions, livewire Jessie and gentle Blossom, have a good time girls in your new home.
BUT stars of the day must be the new pups who have just arrived. We just had to have cuddles and play with them........how awful !!! There seem to be 2 cuddly mice and 4 Beagollies !!!!!!! Watch this space.

MALLIES DAY....

The weather eventually sorted itself out and the sun shone. The sun certainly shone on Mallie and after waiting patiently went off to her new home with her new family. We'll all miss Mallie, but she has been waiting awhile, now she has Eila, Jake, and Monty to run around with and keep in order.

Little George is slowly coming out of his shell and enjoyed a run around the barn :wooflove:. Rosie the cocker came face to face with the clippers :o. She definately looks a lot better and the new shorter hair style has knocked years of her.

Both Podge and Jasper accompanied me today as there was no one at home all day. Both came out for a walk with Bella who loved Podge, but needed to slap Jasper down to size, once that was sorted we had a lovely walk ::). I think the white eyelashes make Bella look older than she is because she doesn't act like a 13yr olld out and about.

In contrast to yesterday's downpour, today it was dry if cloudy and sometimes a little breezy - ideal walking conditions. Thanks to the sterling efforts of Julia and Barbara all the doggies were walked in good order.
Only one set of visitors but what a result. They fell in love with the delightfull duo that is Molly and Bruce, they came to find a dog and whilst discussing with Paul what might suit, out walked these two on their way for a walk, well they never looked back. It was love at first sight and later in the afternoon after all the formalities, they left harnessed into the back seat either side of their new mum. All three with broad smiles.

SATURDAYS MIDSUMMER MADNESS

What a wonderful exciting time for the dogs as some of the dogs waiting for homes went off for the Midsommer Walk with other rehomed Wiccs dogs.
Julia and I looked out at one point and the yard was full of walkers , visitors, visiting dogs and dogs waiting for adoption. Complete MADNESS, but loads of fun.

During the rain and the Midsummer Walk, there was 5 visitors with 3 adoptions. We waved of Prince, Betsy and Bonnie as they made a start on their new lives

After such a bad start in life, after coming to Wiccs to begin his life again, after waiting patiently, FINALLY Smiley Sam won over the hearts of his new family and left us to start a new chapter in his life.

Young Poppy Puppy also had visitors and left to begin her new life.

The weather was complete rubbish, but the company of both human and canine more than made up for it. The new arrivals are lovely as are the residents who have here a while. But as Sam has proved today, there is someone for everyone...........................

The rain kept away

Some very well behaved happy dogs to-day who enjoyed their walks in the sunshine. A very big thank you to Julia and Jenny for their help.
Two sets of visitors and two adoptions. Couldn't be better. The elegant and beautiful Milly went home with a lovely family. Their little lad already besotted with her. Second to leave the building was the shy and beautiful Donna. She has a new brother to play with. Good Luck to both of you in your new homes.
Oh, and I should mention that shy little Betsy has come home with us on foster. I don't think she will be here for long as she is such a darling. She has been home for two hours and had a bath - no probs there, she just stands there and lets you do what you have to do (Take note Dougie!). She has been playing football in the garden - quite a dribbler there - a star in the making.

A huge thank-you to Barbara with Benjy, Raymond, Gillian & Margaret with Blake & Elsa (lovely to see you back) and the Badgers, all SIX of them (see posting titled "Four goodness sake!" in Wiccaweys Owners Club section ) and also a big thank-you to them for the scrummy blueberry muffins they provided that were enjoyed by all the walkers.
All the dogs enjoyed lots of walking, socializing, treats and fuss. Mildred did her best to mug Margaret of her lunch, but having walked up an appetite Margaret was having none of it. :-D
At the end of the day Tipper & Sabrina along with Jack & Merlin accompanied us with Sarah for the last walk of the day. Despite them both being a bit shakey in the leg department, they kept up fine, in fact Tipper led the way for most of the walk. It was lovely to see.
Meanwhile, Millie had gone off for a walk with Barbara & Benjy, and was last seen hitching a lift home with them for a little while.
Despite the grey skies & sadly, lack of visitors, the day was enjoyed by all.

A Tail of Two Charlie's!!!

Well it was just Julia and myself today and I think that by the end of the day at Wiccs we were virtually on our knees !!! Yes we are tired but we have had a great day being covered in slobbery kisses, having our bums nipped, topping up our suntan, keeping fit, having a laugh and going home smelling of roses, or should it be "eau de doggy" , ha ha.
We started the day with a barn party whilst we tidied their beds, well this was easier said than done as Prince Charming was trying to cover us in kisses, Chip nipping bums, Rosie climbing about hunting down the treats and Bruce scaling up our legs trying to get into our pockets, unbelievable !!!
Then we managed to take all the dogs for a short walk which they enjoyed, Russel and Roxy continue to make progress whilst Susie, Josie and Patchey tied themselves and us up in knots as they excercised on long training leads.
We did have visitors today and first off was newboy Larry who looked very pleased with his new human sister.
Well the two Charlie's with interesting "tails" were both adopted. Cheeky Charlie had been waiting a while, a small collie boy with an incredibly curly tail wormed his way into a couple who were visiting and yesterday Charlie who only has a stump for a tail was adopted. Again Charlie had been waiting a while for his new home, although he has been on foster, so it really was tears of joy all around for these two lads. It is great when any dog is adopted but even more so when they have perhaps been waiting a while or overloooked for not being quite right. Well done everyone, have fun in your new homes.
As ever a very big THANK YOU to Julia for helping out.
PLEASE if you have ever thought about helping with walking the dogs then please get in touch. Even if you only have a couple of hours to spare or just come and walk a couple of dogs IT REALLY DOES MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE. The boys and girls at Wiccs love to meet new faces, they enjoy going for a walk, they love a bit of fuss and are experts at relieving you of treats. THEY have so much love to give and they will give it to you freely ALL you have to do is give a little bit of your time.

Well first the bad news no visitors today
The good news is that we, Julia, Jane , Barbara and myself got to walk and cuddle all the lovely doggies to ourselves
It was another windy day but that didn't deter us and the woofs were on great form. Some lovely new boys and girls in during the week, Pepper who is far too pretty for a boy, creepy crawly Lottie and the beautiful gentle Beth.
Bruce as usual got Jane tied up in knots with his endless demand for cuddles and I think cheeky Charlie has been watching as times I nearly fell over him when I was walking as he too wanted cuddles every few minutes. Charlie may be small but he is such a happy cheeky boy and easily fits into your pocket!
BUT there was scandal !!! Julia has been snogging the boys ,just don't tell Mick . In fact these kisses brought a tear to her eye, as first it was Chip, who being the true gentleman kissed Julia on the back of her hand and then Russell kissed her face , Oh such joy for all. Both of these boys are worried/scared so for them to initiate this is such progress. I think that we all had our fair share of kisses and I had some lovely slobbery kisses from Patchy as we had a roll around in the field together!! yes we get up to all sorts of mischief !!
We ended the day by taking the two "monkey" girls out, aka Susie and Josie. We put them both onto a long training lead, one at either end and let them explore the field. It was quite comical to watch them as Susie likes to go faster than Josie but they soon got the hang of it and really seemed to enjoy exploring the field , they never went far away from us...just incase they missed their treats. Such lovely girls.

Well thats what the stunner Max has gone and done. DJ made the journey yesterday to collect little Max, who had recently had an amputation, he spent the night at Wiccs and was promptly adopted by a family who own a three legged dog, it wasn't planned that way, it was just love at first sight.

And JED, the perfect family dog, overlooked for no apparent reason to any of us who have got to know him over the past few weeks, found his perfect family, three little hoomans to keep him happy. Well worth the wait JED!

There are some stunning dogs at Wiccs and the new arrivals are no exception, both Beth and Lottie could have quite easily found themselves in my car. The two older girls Bella and Malli are beautiful. I've rehomed a couple of oldies and I would recommend it to anyone.

Windy Walkies !!

It was certainly a very windy walking day at Wiccs but the dogs didn't seem to mind, in fact they really enjoyed letting the wind ruffle their coats. At one point I thought that Rosie, cocker spanier was going to take off as she stood at the famous "cuddle corner" with the wind lifting up her ears !!
Talking of cuddles, what a cuddle monster Bruce is.....he just cannot get enough of them. This pooch really should come with a health warning as I lost count how many times that I nearly tripped over him. One minute he is walking and the next he has stopped right in front of you demanding a cuddle !! He has to be seen to be believed...........and experienced!. He really is just like a little mouse scurrying along, but he just has so much love to give.
Thanks to Julia and her assistant Indie, who just walked and played all day, he must be really tired by now. And thanks to Barbara and her helper Benji. What a transformation in this scaredy boy, he just oozes confidence, thanks to Barbaras hard work, no wonder she failed as a fosterer with him.
On our walks today we were escorted around the field by the "colonal" who was trying his best to pinch sausages and keep the scallywags Jack, Merlin and Rags in line. Then the "special" oldies joined us, a very sprightly and positively happy Sabrina and a very brave but wobbly Mr Tipper. It really was a case of one big happy family today, old and young alike. Thanks everyone.
Ooops nearly forgot, one adoption, the scaredy Miss Roxie now has an older brother to show her the ropes, good luck in your new home and enjoy the great outdoors.

The end of the world did not happen

Thank you to Julia and Kate (lovely to see Byron again) for joining us on this glorious day and walking all the adorable doggies. Three weekends away from HQ has made Gillian realise how walking the dogs keeps her fit.

Weekend Wanderings

We have enjoyed a good weekend of walking at Wiccs. The weather was breezy and the woofs in good form. There have been quite a few dogs arrive in the last few days, all shapes, sizes, colours and ages, a real "collie assortment". There are a couple of poppets called Bruce and Molly, beautiful natured dogs and so loving and forgiving...........they had been abandoned in a house and left to starve!. Bruce scurries about like a little mouse and loves his cuddles. He is pocket sized and just great. Bella is an older lady who looks a bit grey in her face but certainly has a spring in her step, and then the gentle quiet Spock, just scrummy. One of my favourite mixes has come across from Ireland, a springer/collie called Patchey, a very lively young boy. The list is endless, as I said a lovely collie assortment....something for everyone! I could take them all home.
It was good to see our regular walkers Julia, Jenny, Kate, Kenn, Julie and Becs as well as first time walkers Nicola and family. Thank you everyone, your help is very much appreciated.
We waved off Bonnie, Sheppie and Martha as they left with their new families and Alfie will be leaving in a couple of days. Well done, have fun.
If you have a few hours to spare and want to come and meet/walk the gang then please get in touch. The woofs always love to see a new face and would love to relieve you of any treats.

SATURDAY 14TH MAY..........

Such lovely dogs residing at Wiccs at the moment, all enjoying a saunter in the strange weather we had yesterday, overcast, cold, windy, sunny then warm!!
Kate fell in love with Sheppy who was then promptly adopted by another. Bonnie was adopted and who now has a new big brother, who I was told is a flat coat retriever..........................but looking at the size of him I not so sure he wasn't a pony!!!!

One other adoption took place and Im sure the new adopters will reveal all in time.

Russell and Roxie have come on so well. Russell is the quiet reserved of the two and Roxie is turning into Funtime Roxie.
Bruce and Molly are fab, Bruce was not what I expected, he loves cuddles, kisses and sausages (not necessarily in that order) and he is pocket size!!!!!! There must be chihuahua some where in the ancestral line.

Easter Sunday

Another warm & sunny day, but with a lovely breeze that made it quite pleasant for walking the dogs. A massive to Gillian, Amanda & Alex for all your help walking dogs and to Raymond for manning the phone today. Amanda arrived being chaufferred by Alex, who got his licence on Tues It was lovely to catch up with people and I know the dogs enjoy having some different people to mug for treats

Sunday Strollings

Well, where do I start ?
We were blessed with lovely warm weather, and equally warm welcomes from the Wiccs boys and girls. Plenty of waggy tails and slobbery kisses
There are some gorgeous boys and girls waiting for their forever homes and it is such a pleasure to walk them and enjoy their company.
Its always great to see how some of them progress and Russell and Roxy are no exception. Instead of hiding from us they now "want" to come out for a walk and really enjoy themselves ,well done .
As ever a very big thank you to Julia and today we were joined by Barbara and DJ, great to see you both.
Now to the news you've all been waiting for .........4 ADOPTIONS

A lovely sunny day at Wiccs, plenty of on offer from the lovely boys and girls and some enjoyable
Lenny B was on form and Fifi was flirting, Roxy and Russell had a spring in their step, Bonnie just wanted to play, Prince remains the best kisser, best cuddle of the day goes to Dougie, best smile to Ribena and best puller of the day was definitely Chip
Two adoptions today, well done and have lots of fun
First off was Patch. He had a bath before departing but decided that he would show his new mum and dad that collies prefer to be dirty and then Little Gem went off with her new big sister Kellie. It was great to see Gem go today as it was one of my recent homechecks. She looked very relaxed sitting in the back of the car as we all waved her off.
As ever a very big thank you to Julia . We thought that it was only going to be us two so it was a welcome sight to see Kenn, Karen and Laurel arrive to help us in the morning and then Julie popped over for a few hours in the afternoon. It made such a huge difference and meant that we could give all the dogs a walk, cuddles and treats. So thanks very much, as they say "every little helps" , and it certainly does.

I was quite excited about going to Wiccs today as I've been away and as always I had a big waggy, slobbery welcome from the "old faithfuls", Prince, Jack, Merlin, Tipper, Susie, Josie, Lassie, Fifi, Lenny and Chip and it was great to see some of the lovely newbies, Cody, Molly, Swinkle, Dougie , Roxy, Ribena and pups Patch and Basil
Of course it was good to catch up with Paul, Sarah and Julia and a very big thank you to Kenn and Karen assisted by handsome Laurel, Dave and Karen with their assistant Polo and Kate. Your help and company was very much appreciated by the Wiccs dogs who relieved you of your treats and of course they enjoyed their walks as I hope you all did too.
Only one visitor but no adoption
The day ended on a high with walking Roxy and Russell, these two have made such progress over the last months and now look forward to and want to come out for walks, fuss and play. It is a humbling experience to know these two and for them to "allow" me to walk with them.
Oh and Patch and Basil did their upmost to worm their way into my "vacant" kitchen....

Spring has sprung

Spring was in the air to-day with sunshine all day long and there was certainly a spring in the steps of the lovely doggies. They were all so well behaved and it was pleasure to walk them all. A very big thank you to Julia who shared the walking with me. Thank you for Sharon who came and tended to the horses and then groomed and walked Winnie St. Bernard, and also to Wiccaweys Vet who popped in with his family and walked the fabulous Archie. Whitney came out and went for a gentle walk with Raymond and then sat with him in the sunshine, growing more confident by the minute (Whitney that is, not Raymond ).

One visitor to-day who adopted the lovely Suzie. Her new Dad is 90 years old and I think she will be spoilt rotten - which she really deserves after all she has been through. She is just a loving bundle of fun. Good Luck little Suzie.

Woodie leaves the building!!

Although the day started off a bit cold and damp it rapidly improved. A big thank you to Julia again (what would we do without you?). A big thank you also to Paul and Em, who recently adopted puppy Benny and brought him along with his two human brothers for socialising. They walked Archie, Jules and Misty, which was a great help. They have promised to come again so we shall look forward to seeing them soon.

The good news to-day was that we had three sets of visitors. Julie completed her first week as a foster mum when puppy Joon was adopted. Well done Julie. Next to leave with his new family was gentle boy Woodie. I think he will be very happy with four boys to play with. Lastly, Angel went off to her new home, again with some nice boys to look after her. Good Luck to all of them.

Julia and I finished the last walk of the day with Russell and Roxy in brilliant sunshine. The sky was blue, the birds were singing, the daffs were blooming and the doggies were so happy to be trotting along. These two have come such a long way since they arrived and are both stunning to look at, with lovely natures. We couldn't have finished the day on a happier note.

A glimmer of sunshine

The rain and wind kept away and although it could not be said to be warm the occasional sunshine was very welcome. Thank you to Julia, Barbara and Kenn for all the walking and socialising the doggies.

We were only due to have one set of visitors today. They came, took their time and went away with both Issy and Una. Then Julie came in with a home check she had just completed followed by the potential adopters who took their favourite puppy Daisy. This was Theresa and her family who have been walking with us for several weeks to get their children accustomed to their first dog. To thank Julie for doing the home check on a Sunday afternoon she took puppy Joon on foster!

Lisa brought Alfie from Birmingham to join us and took puppy Jake back with her to rehome.

There were plenty of cakes about. Julia's pie was much appreciated by the walkers but two cakes that Sarah had earmarked as her favourites were enjoyed by Rags and Choccie on their raids into the caravan.
We hope that your foot gets better soon Julia.

COLD DAMP WEATHER

But brightened up by the collies. Six of us endured that misty weather that makes you feel as if you're walking through a cloud. Although the day started bright enough the mist descended pretty quickly in the afternoon.
We had four sets of visitors all leaving with their new additions. Bobby, Benny, Bella and Jess went off today with their new families.

Colonel Mustard aka Choccie patrolled the grounds with Second In Command Raymond making sure everything was in order.

Mud, glorious mud, nothing quite like it.....

A million thank you's to Julia and Barbara who walked in the mud and rain to give the dogs a good time. We were a small but happy group and the dogs enjoyed treats and lots of attention - we held back a bit on the cuddles as I think we were wetter than the dogs. Lennie Bassett may be the smallest dog but he managed to cover Julia with mud from his large paws.

It was lovely to meet Di, Hubby and the beautiful Ruby and watch them go off with lovely little Bobby. We know you will have a lovely life Bobby running on the beach in Cornwall.

Barbara is doing good work with little Banjo and to help him get used to things in the house, she took Toby back with her to-day as well. We shall look forward to seeing some more lovely pictures of this fabulous duo.

BOB. Bob the dog no. 3 arrived today and how scrummy is he???????? We had 3 new arrivals today, so in between walking Julia and I helped out with a photo session, including updated photos for Wolf and Sam.

The day began with a Bundle in the Barn and all dogs behaved themselves and just had fun.

Unfortunately no adoptions today.

Wet Walkies

Well it was a very dull, dreary, drizzly day at Wiccs and definitely a day for waterproofs and wellies, but soon there were a lot of big "sunshine" smiles from the lovely boys and girls at Wiccs, accompanied by a mexican wave of waggy tails !
Sadly no visitors today, just us dogwalkers, and we had a lovely time just walking, fussing and being in the company of these wonderful 4 leged friends.
A very big THANK YOU to Julia and Barbara who joined me for the whole day, and we were joined for a few hours by Raymond + Gillian, Julie + Beccs and we welcomed two new walkers Tony and Paul who had made a long journey to be with us. Hope that you both enjoyed your day and that you will come again. Your time and distance travelled is very much appreciated.
As we have said before all help, even just an hour is really welcomed by the Wiccs gang, 4 legged and human.
Barbara snuck home with a passenger to spoil, I mean foster ! hope has his paws under the table !

Valentine's Eve

The weather was nothing special to-day, but the dogs and the company made up for it. A very big thank you to Mick and darling Mack, Julia, Barbara, and the Badgers - thank you for the lovely Valentine cakes Em, they were scrummy and the doggies who were lucky enough to get some of your special treats said they were delicious too.

Sadly there were no visitors to-day but a certain middle aged lady is having a visitor to-morrow, so we are keeping our fingers crossed for her.

Newly adopted Cody brought along his mum and dad and sister Tia to say hello and tell Paul and Sarah how much he loves his new home.
Barbara's "adoption list when I retire" is narrowing down to at least four favorites - I am thinking of running a book on who she will eventually adopt! Little Lassiie is worming her way into Julia's heart. She just loves being brushed and is getting more confident by the day.

A lovely way to spend time. Some of you should come and try it. Please!

The Land of Giant Collies..........

I had my first encounter of Wolf today, I think the saying 'Big is Beautiful' is very apt. He is very big and very beautifull. You cannot appreciate the size of him until you actually see him.

The weather stayed bright and sunny. During the day four collies found their new families, Shep & Paddy went off together, Mollie and Bella each found their new homes.

The day I had been waiting for arrived, Roxie and Russell taking their first proper walk out with me and Julia. That made my day.

Windy again !

Another windy but very enjoyable day at Wiccs.
I arrived early and started the day with several of the famous "barn parties" . Here the dogs have a chance to run around, let their hair down, play games and flirt :wooflove: whilst I was making their beds !
It was great to see Mick and Mack and they both seemed to enjoy their walking and I know that Josh, Prince, Blackie and Wolf enjoyed their company and treats.
Collie addicts Barbara and Julia walked their legs off, poor Barbara hasn't quite recovered from being " Lennied" :o but her reward was walkies with Fifi :wooflove
Thanks also to Julie and Beccs who joined us for the afternoon and seemed quite smitten by new girlie Mollie, lets hope hubby is in a good mood when Julie gets home :D
So a big :thankyou to you all for your help and company, it really is appreciated.

Windy or what !!

It was another busy day at Wiccs with 4 sets of visitors and 3 adoptions . First it was newbie Mattie who had his new family wrapped firmly around his little paws and both he and his new human brother and sister were grinning from ear to ear as they left. Then we waved off Cabbie who had been waiting patiently for his forever home and today he was an absolute gem and finally it was Busters turn as he went off with his new mum and dad who are already besotted with him . Well done everyone and good luck
Bernie made the long distance run with two passengers, a creepy tri colour boy called Paddy and a huge gentle giant very aptly called Wolf, thanks Bernie for making this trip and hope that you will soon feel better.
A third new arrival, a 5 month girl caled Mollie. Quite sad really as all these gorgeous dogs have to find new homes due to death and changing circumstances of their owners. Hopefully we made them feel welcome with walks, cuddles and sausages.
The barn has had a facelift and Paul was busy today putting the remaining new crates together and we managed to get them in position and sort out new beds etc for the dogs as we introduced them to their new abodes. Jack and Chip decided that their new beds/baskets needed rearranging and decorating with teeth marks !
A very big to Julia for all her help and it was great to see Laurel, who gets more handsome and sleek everytime I see him and he brought along Kenn, Karen, Bex and James. Your help was very much appreciated and hope to see you again soon. I think that between us we walked, cuddled and "sausaged" about 26 dogs Thanks again for coming over.
I seem to have come home covered in bruises and aching shoulders which I think is as a result of hanging onto the barn door everytime I went in or out as the wind was almost taking it off its hinges and me with it ! .......but at least it didn't rain .

The Feel Good Factor

To-day had a real feel good factor about it. The weather was little warmer than yesterday which helped. A very big thank you to Barbara, who walked her socks off as usual; to Mick and Mack and to Julia who took the reins once more because of my poorly hand . Julia not only walked the dogs, but cleaned crates, and helped Paul put in the new ones. You are a star Julia.

The new crates are super and the dogs looked very contented installed in their new abodes. Lurcher Merlin was little confused because his crate is now in a different position and he tried to get in with Jessie as she is now placed in his old position. I don't blame him anyway, as she is a beautiful girl.

Three dogs were rehomed to-day. The lovely Elsie went off with her new owners looking very happy. Scoobie also won the hearts of a lovely couple and was last seen looking out of the back of the car with a big smile on his face. And lastly, late in the day visitors who had adopted a dog last year dropped by for a visit and went home with the lovely Cody. A pleasing day. It is a pleasure to be at Wiccs among such lovely people and dogs.

Nearly More Walkers Than Dogs.......

or thats what it felt like, not that we minded and nor did the dogs!! Very often it will be just two or three walkers so it was nice to have so much help and the dogs very much appreciated having all the fuss and walks.

Busy day at the farm

Phew! What a busy day - there are so many dogs to walk. Thank you to Julia, who started very early this morning and had already walked four dogs before we arrived (superwoman). The new arrivals are absolute stunners and seem to have settled in well, as always. The delightful and handsome Kal was rehomed and will have a lovely doggy brother to play with. Thank you also to Theresa and family who came over this afternoon and walked four doggies together - I think the dogs really enjoyed that.

A relatively quiet day compared to yesterday. It did not rain but the gusty wind made it cold. A big thank you to Barbara, Julia and Mick (with the gorgeous Mack). All the dogs had good walks and plenty of treats and cuddles. Mr Johnny Badger brought along his mum and dad and sister Little Dot together with scrummy sausage rolls and blueberry muffins (no, I don't think he made them himself!). Mick had baked a delicious apple cake, so we had a veritable feast. Thank you.

Handsome Sailor arrived with foster dad Ian and was duly adopted
Another good week-end for adoptions - but there will soon be new arrivals to take their places - all deserviing of a good home of their own so let us hope that the current trend continues.

Windy Walks at Wiccaweys!.....

Very blustery day at Wiccs for walkers and visitors alike. At one point things were starting to resemble a supermarket carpark with 8 walkers and 4 visitors coming and going. All dogs enjoyed a walk out with some sneaking a second !

Four sets of visitors all left with a new addition to their families, Rosie, Bear, Patchey and Muso all looking very pleased with themselves.

Weekend Walkies!

It has been a very busy but enjoyable weekend at Wiccs. The poor Wiccs dogs had the short straw as I was walking on both days!!! But I couldn't walk the dogs without the invaluable help from Mick, Julia, Matt, Angela, Barbara, Shirley, Raymond and Gillian. Thanks everyone, it was great to see you and your help very much appreciated.
Over the weekend 5 dogs left with their new families, Blaze, Joey, Rocky, Robin and Harvey. Well done, have lots of fun in your new homes. Three of these dogs had been in foster homes and it is always a bittersweet moment when they leave ..........how do they manage to look so smug and happy whilst we are all fighting back the tears !!
It is wonderful to see previous Wiccs dogs coming back to choose a new brother or sister or simply for a visit and this weekend we had the pleasure of catching up with the fabulous Daisy, Max [formerly Rx], Elsa and Jack[formerly Max]
Lots of new furry faces, waggy tails and slobbery kisses to meet and greet. Some gorgeous fluffy puppies as well as lovely young boys and girls, and of course alot of the old familiar faces who are only to pleased to see us and relieve us of our lunch and treats !!
Young Chip caused a bit of a stir when he slipped his collar and just wouldn't come close enough to have it put back on. Instead he turned on his heels and ran across the fields.............all the way to his bed !!! Big sighs of relief all round and Chip sitting there with a look on his face which said " I'm not just a handsome boy, I'm a very clever boy!" For me this says such a lot as Chip was a very, very scared boy when he came to Wiccs and over the weeks he has relaxed and grown in confidence and his actions yesterday shows just how happy and at home he now feels. Well done Chip, extra sausages for you !!

Post new year exercise.

Well, it was a good start to the day! As we arrived, Arnie was in the process of getting ready to leave with his new family, Good Luck!
Jenny & her partner (sorry I didn't get your name ) arrived with the very friendly Harvey who had a gentle stroll with Rocky & then Cabbie took them for a walk "Cabbie style"

A massive to Barbara who drove 3 hours from the coast to get here, then spent the whole day walking non-stop to ensure all the dogs got a walk. You are a star.
Mack and Mick enjoyed the day walking familiar friends and some new ones. After todays mud we are debating whether Mack's name should be changed to Muck (Mick also!) Mack did enjoy himself!
Our fridge freezer died yesterday, but our bad luck was good luck for the Wiccs dogs, as last night was spent cooking a couple of kilos of smoked bacon, packs of sausages, turkey burgers and other bits and pieces that they all enjoyed!

NEW YEARs DAY WISHES and WALKIES

I was joined today by Kenn, Karen and their lovely assistant Laurel. We enjoyed being out in the fresh air and in the company of the wonderful Wiccs dogs at the start of this new year. Our wish is that all these boys and girls find their forever homes, fingers and paws crossed for them.
We had some entertaining walks with Scooby, Chip and Misty all going at a 100 mile an hour !, some bouncy walks with Jack and Cabbie and more sedate walks with Lennie, Fifi, Souix and Jessie.
We rounded the day off with a huge play session ? dance around the barn. or the doggy version of a New Years Party ! It was chaos but all the boys and girls could let their hair down and there were no grumbles...just a couple of budding romances between Jessie and Robin and Lassie and Scooby!!! Chip who wouldn't say boo to a goose a few months ago was full of mischief and nipping bottoms.
The wonderful boys and girls at Wiccs WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR and they would love to see you soon.

On a misty, cold day with ice under foot in places, all the doggies in residence were walked and petted thanks to the sterling efforts of Julia, Jenny, Kenn and Karen. With such help the day went quickly. No visitors today but one little doggie will be going home tomorrow.

On behalf of all the Dog Walkers Team Leaders we wish all of our walkers a happy New Year and look forward to seeing even more walkers next year.

Post Christmas Walkies !

A very big thank you to Julia for joining me today. It certainly was a marathon effort to walk all the lovely dogs as well as give out lots of fuss and treats. A great way to work off some of those extra calories and in fact we were so warm that we ended up stripping off !!
As ever we received lots of wonderful welcomes, waggy tails and slobbery kisses. There was still quite a bit of snow left and a good number of the dogs enjoyed a good roll and play in the snow...some even managed to find some fox pooh!
It was heart warming to see a couple of the more timid girls want to play. Jessie had a little game with Julia and Lassie wanted to play with Merlin as I walked them together. Whilst this might not sound very much, for these girls its a huge step.
Chip is turning into a cheeky boy and he and Scooby are just so playful together and great fun to walk. Prince is still the best kisser and Jack is still the bounciest dog, I'm sure he should be called Zebedee .
Fingers and paws crossed that these and the other lovely boys and girls will find their forever homes in the new year and that they can all adopt a new family.
Sadly the phones as busy as ever with folk wanting to hand their dogs in or having difficulties
No visitors today but Rex[ blue merle] , Rex [b/w] and Dexter adopted last week, have fun in your new homes and be good boys.

Wintery Walkies Wiccs Style !!

We had a lovely time today at Wiccs. We didn't really know how many woofs with their humans were coming as the snow was causing problems all around us, although only a couple of flurries at Wiccs.
But it was great to see so many old and new faces come and join us for a big "group" walk around the fields at Wiccs .
This meant that alot of the Wiccs dogs could enjoy a walk, cuddles and treats by lots of new faces for them....I mean they must get fed up with us regular walkers!!! and it was great to see them working their charm on these poor unsuspecting folk !
Mrs Johnny Badger made us part with our money as she had been busy baking both doggy and human goodies, yum yum and after walking we were able to chat over warm drinks and goodies .
Some of us attempted to release a few laterns as we remembered our old furry friends no longer with us , a fitting end to a lovely day
A very big THANK YOU to everyone for coming, hope you all had a safe journey home and wishing you a Happy Christmas

Happy Dogs (and Cats)

A very big thank you to Kenn (with Laurel), Julia, and Joan (with Twiglet and Douglas). Joan made the long journey to be with us and also brought a lovely homemade fruit cake - delicious. Thank you very much Joan. Having an extra pair of hands makes all the difference to the time the dogs can be out walking and it is much appreciated when someone has come such a long way.

We met the newbies and what lovely dogs they are. I wanted to put little Lucky under my arms and run off home with him - he is so sweet. The dogs enjoyed their walks and socialising. So did the cats! At lunch time, we had 5 cats around us and Polar helped himself to piece of Joan's cake.

Sadly there were no visitors to-day. It would be lovely if some of the pooches could find their new homes for Christmas, so lets all keep wishing and keeping our fingers crossed.

We missed Karen and Mick - we hope both of you will soon be feeling better soon.

Beautiful Dogs.......

are residing at Wiccs. Three of them adopted their new families, Eleanor waved off 2 of her charges Sparkle & Dottie, and the beautiful Millie decided she was going to be taken home by another visitor and sat proudly in the back of the car as she set off for her new life.

Fortunately the weather stayed dry if not damp and Graham, Barb (who's list grows ever longer), Eleanor, Julia and myself managed to walk all dogs. Rex no1 walked nicely with Dexter and would make a great matching pair!! Rex no2 was the double of Merlin one of the resident collies causing Julia and myself to do a double take.

Anyone who has a spare couple of hours to help out with the walking at the weekend will be most welcome, its very addictive...........just ask Barb!

Crisp winter walking

It was a beautiful sunny winter day, perfect for dog walking A huge thank-you to Barbara for making the journey once again and to Eleanor for the welcome text saying she would be coming for a while to help walk the dogs. And a big hug for Mack for being such a great walking buddy along with Mick to many of his old friends and some new ones he hadn't yet met. All the dogs were walked, fussed and emptied our pockets of treats. Millie shared my chicken sandwich at lunch as she went between us bestowing kisses on all of us. One set of visitors today. Fluffy puppy Flash decided that he would adopt them, and the deed was done. :-) Have a long & happy life little one! Five puppies still looking for a home to hang their stocking on Christmas eve. You can see them on the Fosterer's blog (along with Mack & Harvey), if you dare look :-D
If you can only make it to Wiccs for a couple of hours to walk some dogs, that would be as welcome as coming for the whole day. We start around 11 and finish around 4 pm now it gets dark early, so anytime between those hours that you can make it would be just fine :-)

Winter fun and games

The weather was a bit cold and muggy but much better than expected. A very big thank you to Julia and Eleanor - between us we managed to walk 24 doggies (Julia will correct me if I can't count ). Some fairly bounced along (Sioux, Susie, Chip, Misty); others preferred to do rolly pollies (Fifi was the star turn at this); others just trotted along, happy to be out and about (Butch, Merlin, Tipper, Lassie, Prince). Scoobie has so much energy for one so young and Rags and Millie preferred to walk around the yard which suited Raymond very well. Too many dogs to mention them all, but they all had a good time and so did we. Wouldn't it be lovely if some of them found their new homes just in time for Christmas?

The hi-light of the day was Mick's wickedly chocolate cake - absolutely yummy, thank you Mick.

.........LILY & DAISY after waiting patiently for so long finally adopted their new family. They sat in the back of the car looking extremely pleased with themselves. Young Foxy had a brief stay to Wiccs before being adopted by his new family.

The weather stayed dry, fortunately no snow so Di and Barbara braved the trip to help Julia and myself walk all the dogs. Without their help I think we would still be walking. So many beautiful dogs looking for their new homes, new girl Milly is a stunner, well in truth they are all beautiful......

Warm Wintery Wanderings

It was a really good day today at Wiccs for several reasons. I was joined by a great team of helpers, all wrapped up, loaded down with treats and simply enjoying walking and fussing all the wonderful dogs who are still looking for their new families. Sometimes it takes a long time for the "right" family to come along. Today there was not a dry eye as we watched Toby siiting very proudly on the back seat of his new familiy's car. He looked so happy and also a little bemused as if he really couldn't believe that he really was going home. Toby had been at Wiccs for many months and was a total pleasure to walk and it was heartbreaking to see him overlooked week after week. But that all changed today when his new family could see that he was a lovely cheeky character. Well done Toby, have fun, you deserve it.
Also we waved goodbye to pup Alfie and one of the magnificent 7 pups.
There has been a big influx of dogs during the week, girls, boys, old and young but all of them happy to share their slobbery kisses and waggy tails with us and of course they enjoyed their walks. If only they could talk then I'm sure they would say a huge thank you to Karen, Ken + Bex, Barbara, Di, Angela and Julia for coming up and spending time and walking, you really are all stars and very much appreciated xxxx

Lady falls for Kane

It was cold! but it did not rain. It required brisk walks with the dogs to keep warm. A big thank you to Mick, Julia and Barbara who laboured hard throughout the day. In the afternoon we welcomed new walker Jo with her young daughter and collie cross Bonnie, and introduced them to three of the doggies. Hopefully they enjoyed themselves enough to think of coming again, every help is appreciated.

Two sets of visitors. One left empty handed after considerable deliberation over their favoured dog. The other, a lady who has visited HQ several times in search for her dream dog fell, literally as he pulled her over, for Kane. He was besotted with her and it appeared mutual. After all his sufferings in his short life he deserves happiness and by the look of him as he left he has found it. We wish them both all the best.

Weekday Wanderings

I do enjoy getting up to Wiccs during the week to spend time with the gorgeous doggies but work and other comittments means that it is on an ad hoc basis. But today myself and Julia took a break from housework and shopping and spend a very plesant day walking the woofs. Most times we were able to walk two at a time which was good for the dogs as they often like company. Chip is far more confident when walking with a doggy companion and today I walked him with young Scooby.......two bouncy boys together and numerous tangled leads !! The girls Lily and Daisy are just brilliant fun to walk and always make us laugh. Susie and Josie love walking together and are very affectionate towards one another. The old and the young, alias Mr Tipper and Kane were an interesting combination. Of course there were those who are better walked on their own as they need that extra one to one, especially young Jack who just likes to play and act silly.
We did meet a few of the new arrivals from Ireland, although we had only just said "hello" to gentle Jennie before she adopted a new family, and finally we met two rather scared collies who were very unsure about coming for a walk. I'm sure that by the time I meet them again they will be more relaxed........watch this space ! Another busy time ahead as more arrivals expected soon and still so many lovely boys and girls waiting to be part of a new family.

Waggy Welcomes !

It was great to get back to Wiccs today and catch up with my old furry friends and meet the newbies. They are all so gorgeous and what a lovely happy bunch. As ever they were pleased to see us and we all came home smothered in slobbery kisses and muddy paws.

We started by letting the woofs have a run and play together in the barn. They had a great time playing racey chasey, hide and seek or simply enjoying a cuddle, then we took all the dogs for a walk.....Josh, Jessie, Butch, Prince, Mr Tipper, Jack, Toby, Fifi, Tess, Merlin, Lassie, Meggie, Souix, Susie, Josie, Lily, Daisy, Chip, Scooby, Jack, Kane, Cabbie and Misty

Lily and Daisy are such good fun to walk as they simply adore each other and are so playful. Young Scooby has really come out of his shell..no longer the confused and frightened pup who would take your fingers off but now he loves his cuddles and games and has soon learnt that we carry treats. Chip is gaining his confidence and is much more relaxed around people, and as for Prince Charming he is definitely the best snogger

As ever a big thank you to Julia and also to Barbara for coming back again....I think its "official" Barbara is a COLLIE ADDICT there's no hope for her now!

Reinforcements arrived in the afternoon when Julie and Becs popped over for a couple of hours, thank you, it was very much appreciated and it meant that some of the younger dogs could enjoy a longer walk.

Mick and Julia ride again

We thought that we were in for a hard day given that only Barbara had signed up to join us, so it was an added pleasure not to say relief, to see both Mick and Julia arrive. Julia was aupposed to take it easy and not walk too much but you can imagine what notice she took of that. Barbara deserves a special thank you for coming up to support us as she thought no one else had volunteered, especially as she will be back tomorrow and has to travel to and from Watford each time.
The weather was dry but so cold and extra layers were required to keep us warm. Julia made scrumptious muffins. Both Mack and Harvey our respective fosters behaved themselves impeccably, why they have not been snapped up before now we do not understand.

One set of visitors took home Marco one of the new arrivals and another set, returning from two weeks ago, chose Jesse another newby who they will pick up on Tuesday. :) We wish them both happy lives in their new homes.

The day was not without its highlights, Butch's lead snapped enabling him to have a go at Prince which Prince ignored and Felix seemed to have a death wish dicing with the cars as were all leaving.

Get Fit The Wiccs Way..........

I've often wondered how far we walked so today DJ used her pedometer on her phone to workout the metres, the route we took was 2300m (nearly 1.5m), 20 dogs were walked between the 3 of us..............who needs a gym and we got kisses and cuddles from the dogs as well.

Barbara has again added another dog to her list. This list is getting longer and longer and longer and longer.....

Two dogs had visitors and went off to their new homes..........Glen and Lady Mary. Have fun in your new homes.

A spendid day for dogwalking. A big thank you to Kenn and Karen for their invaluable help. Between us we managed to give all the dogs a walk and enjoyed the mild weather and the sunshine. The newbies are a lovely bunch - Lady Mary, Misty,(read her story on Dogs Blog) Jack and Meg. Harvey our foster was with us and enjoyed meeting friends old and new.
As Kenn has said, more volunteer walkers would be appreciated now that the days are getting shorter and there is less time. We can guarantee much enjoyment so please come and give it a try.

Fantastic that the lovely Josie choose herself a new family. Good Luck Josie. Scampi also found his home in the week so Good Luck to him also.

There are so many lovely dogs waiting to be adopted and somewhere out there is the right human for them - could it be you?

The weather today was bright and sometimes cold with one rain period in the afternoon. Thanks to the efforts of Mick Julia and Shirley all the doggies were walked and cuddled. Shirley was especially welcome on her first time walking, we hope she found the journey from Ely worthwhile.

Four sets of visitors with Kerry and Penny going to their new homes. This was the last walking day in British Summer Time and the clocks go back tonight. We have told all the doggies to adjust their time clocks!

Again a very big thank you to Mick and Julia for keeping me company. We enjoyed a lovely day of autumn sunshine, lots of walks as well as the obligatory slobbery kisses and cuddles. The doggies were in fine form and a pleasure to be with.

It was good to see Carol, Lou and those gorgeous "Miller girlies.
There's always one that has to pinch my cheese sandwich...wil I ever learn! Mind you this little fella could have done what he liked as he has made such progress in 24 hours. Yesterday when I saw him he was a very troubled and frightened little boy who would have taken your fingers off and he didn't want anyone near him ,well today he has been out with us, enjoying walks, cuddles and sitting on my lap to reach my sandwich when I wasn't looking ,but how amazing is that..that old Wiccs magic has worked again. I'm sure that he will now come on leaps and bounds. We are all so thrilled and happy for him.

Of course still plenty of lovely boys and girls waiting for their forever homes, there is someone there for everyone.

Sunshine, showers, and lots of waggy tails !!

A very big thank you to Julia and Barbara for keeping me company today and helping to walk some of the gorgeous doggies. I think that we walked miles and I still haven't counted up how many we walked.

The weather was variable but as ever we were greeted very enthusiastically with slobbery kisses, waggy tails and by the end of the afternoon muddy paws !

It is just a sheer pleasure to be able to be in the company of these beautiful dogs, each so different, yet loving in their own way. Although we had visitors today there are still some lovely doggies waiting for their forever homes and it is quite disheartening at times to see them overlooked because the " colour" or "coat" just isn't right. I just wish people would look beyond this to the "real" dog underneath.

But we did wave three dogs off with their new families......the dashing debonair Curt, the lovely Poppy and Millie pup

Have lots of fun and games in your new homes . And earlier in the week Jessie was adopted. Jessie had been at Wiccs for sometime and was overlooked but she has spent the last few months on foster with Ian and Karen where she was a star. Well done Jessie and big thanks to Ian and Karen for looking after her so well. I know that you will miss her, but I hear that her bed is being kept warm by someone else

Last of the Summer Days?

The weather could not have been kinder - a real Indian Summer's day. And the dogs just love it because the walkers are relaxed, they are relaxed and a good time was had by all. A big thank you to Julia, Mick (with darling Mack) and Barbara who walked their socks off. A speical Gold Star Award to Julia who cleaned out all the crates as well as walking dogs. You really are superwoman, thank you.
Four sets of visitors and two doggies left the building - handsome Fly and quirky eared Biba. Good Luck to both of them in their new homes. The other visitors are giving some thought as to who/what they want and hopefully will be back.
Now Fly has gone, Barbara's list is a little shorter - or so we thought. But then she saw Cabbie and her list grew again! Ken is absolutely right in his comments made on yesterday's walk, there really are some stunning dogs at Wiccs at the moment (actually, aren't there always?). Another super day spent with lovely dogs and lovely people. I only wish some more of you would come now and again. It would be such a help and you don't know what you're missing.

SATURDAY...........WALKING WALKING WALKING..........

.......The new in way of keeping fit. One day at Wiccaweys can burn those calories like you wouldn't believe and also guarentee a good nights sleep. I also found it a good way of avoiding the rubbish on telly, because as soon as I sat down, I crashed out, so have absolutely no idea what happened on the X-Factor!!

The weather kept good and the dogs made for excellent company. Four of us, Ken, Karen, Julia and myself enjoyed that company. There are some gorgeous dogs waiting patiently for someone to adopt them, too many to name.

2 lots of visitors = 2 dogs adopted. Both Rory and Freddie went off with their new families.

Ten out of ten for a fabulously sunny day which made walking the dogs all the more pleasurable. It was sunshine and smiles all round. Ten out of ten for the company. A huge thank you to Mick, Julia and Barbara. Between us we walked 22 dogs. And what were they all saying as we walked along in the sun? -" adopt us please". They are all so gorgeous. So not so auspicious a day for rehoming as there were no visitors.

Many treats were handed out and enjoyed by the dogs and we humans shared a treat in the form of Julia's orange drizzle cake - yummy. That was too good to share with our four legged companions. Mildred cat strutted her stuff in a snazzy striped T-shirt - not sure what football team she was supporting Harvey (our foster pooch) came with us and met up with Mick (his former foster daddy) and was just delighted to see him. He made friends with Mick's present foster dog, Mack. I had to watch Mick's mobile home carefully to make sure he didn't disappear with him.

A really excellent day with great company both doggy and human. Thanks again everyone.

Autumnal meanderings

I am posting for Eleanor as she has headed off for a well deserved pre-birthday treat & she knew people would want to know how the day went. The skies may have been grey, but all the lovely dogs were shining today with wagging tails & cuddles galore. It was lovely to have some young blood amongst us today in the form of Ken & Karen's son Luke & daughter Becky (Bex) with their mum & dad. Laurel has done a great job training them! ;-) What a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning as a family! Thank-you so much to all of you, the dogs really appreciated all the walking & fuss. There were 3 dogs adopted today & 2 more arrived to take their places. The gorgeous Skye was adopted and wasted no time in showing her new mum & dad how much fun it is to throw a squeaky toy out of the car time after time :-D A big thank-you to Barbara for making the journey to collect Skye last week, to enable her to have a new forever family. Handsome Freddie has gone to live with lovely ex-Wiccs boy, Ozzie (who is looking great & is as charming as ever). Last, but by no means least, gentle cuddly Danny was adopted. His new family include a brother and a sister. His new sister was afraid of dogs, but Danny's gentle nature put a smile on her face. He hasn't been with us long,but we shall all miss his lovely cuddles.
We were treated to some yummy chocolate cake by Eleanor today, as a late celebration of Karen's birthdayand an early celebration of her own, next Thurs. Thank-you!

MISERABLE WEATHER.........HAPPY DOGS!

The wet weather didn't deter the voluteer dog walkers, 8 of us walked and spent a lovely time with a variety of beautiful dogs. It was a lovely sight as I approached cuddle corner to see so many collies and walkers chatting and walking with all dogs getting on. The dogs didn't care about the weather, so why should we? We had wellies......no problem!!

A Fab Day

There were so many dogs to walk to-day, that we wondered if we would get through them. Mick, Ju, Raymond and myself walked our little socks off. But it was a fab day. The sun shone, the dogs were absolute stars and there were six sets of visitors. Eleanor had the three new puppies, Meg, Mia and Treasure overnight, but they all went off to their new homes as did the gorgeous Fufu. Good Luck to all of them in their new forever homes.

The lovely Harvey, who was fostered earlier this year by Mick and Julia, came back because of the loss of his Mum. We have brought him back with us on foster - I hope we can do as good a job as Mick and Julia. They would certainly have had him back but they are fostering gorgeous Mack at the moment.
It is such a pleasure to walk these dogs and learn all their little characteristics. I do hope some of them find their homes soon, because they really deserve it.

Winter cometh

Thank you as always to Mick and Julia, Barbara, and Eleanor who joined us to walk all the doggies. The day started cloudy and cold, then drizzle came making for a murky afternoon. Only one set of visitors who left favouring a dog but a final decision awaits a visit to the vets next week. Their little boy enjoyed the sheep, goats and pony, filled his pockets with conkers and threw ball for Jack and Merlin.
The weather reminded us that winter is only just round the corner. The walking, cuddling and grooming goes on whatever the weather as does sitting round the table having our sandwiches as we explained to Barbara as the wind blew, conkers fell on our heads and the dogs and Felix the cat tried to eat our food.

"Ladies Day"

A very big thank you to Julia, Barbara, Di and Jean, who walked all the doggies and gave them lots of treats. Everyone was so well behaved (the dogs, that is) and despite the blustery wind, walking was a pleasure. It was lovely to see Jean again who has recovered from her recent fall whilst out walking dogs at her home. Luckily, she has not been deterred from coming and walking the wiccs gang.
We really missed you Mick, so hurry up and get well 'cos I think the dogs are missing you too. I think Raymond was a little outnumbered by the ladies to-day, so we let him walk the new puppy. He's a very busy lad, and absolutely adorable (the puppy, that is).
Sadly no visitors - a great pity when there are so many lovely dogs just waiting for their special people to come along and be chosen.

Two lots of visitors and one adoption. The handsome Rex has found his forever family He now has a 10 year old sibling (beautiful ginger & white dog) to snufflle around with. He has been on foster with Barbara and has been to the seaside on holiday and has had a lovely time with her. He is sure to be missed. Well done Barbara, you did a great job

Mr and Mrs no mates!

Well, we were Mick & Julia "no mates" today (2 legged ones anyway), but had plenty of 4 legged furry ones and no rain! (see what you missed out on?!) So we got ALL the doggy breath kisses & cuddles to ourselves No incidents to report, no kamikaze chickens, lambs or otherwise. One set of visitors who left empty handed.

It is lovely to see people adopting cute puppies, but there are lots of loving & deserving adults who need homes too, it is heartbreaking when they wrap their paws around your legs and cuddle and when they are so desperate to please, all they want is to be loved by their very own family. I really hope adoptions pick up for their sake and for the sake of those waiting to come in,Wiccs is close to full capacity

Bank Holiday Sat & Sun involving Chickens, Bassetts and a mad screaming woman

Weather wise Sunday after a showery start turned out a lot nicer than Saturday.

Everything was as per normal on Saturday, visitors, rain, sun, loooads of dog having fun and then a bad bassett came running round the corner with an indignant chicken with the look of 'don't you know who I am, put me down this instant' in her mouth hotly follow by a mad screaming woman often known as Carol. The incident was so surreal it took a couple of seconds for anyone to realise what was happening. The last report of said chicken after recovery of the shock was good, the latest report of said Bassett was a complete sulk on.... heyho never the norm at wiccs

On a different note, at long last Max found his forever home and so did three of the chunky monkeys
